Minutes of the 1186th Meeting (Session II)

Session II of the 1186th meeting of the Chicago Coin Club was held Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Chicago Bar Association Building, 321 S. Plymouth Court, Downtown Chicago. President Richard Lipman reconvened the meeting at 6:45 PM with attendance of 19 members and 3 guests, Donna Ferguson, Jennifer Ferguson, and Natalie Ferguson.

The Minutes of the October 11, 2017 meeting as published in the Chatter were approved. In the absence of the Treasurer, the Secretary delivered the October treasurer’s report showing revenue of $780.00, expenses $0.00. A motion was passed approving the report.

Old Business:

As there was no new business, the floor was turned over to Jeff Rosinia who served as the auctioneer for the annual auction.

A round of applause was given to those members who put items into the auction and the proceeds went into the Club Treasury.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:18 PM.

Minutes of the Chicago Coin Club Board of Directors

November 15, 2017

The Chicago Coin Club Board met November 15, 2017 at Connie’s Pizza, 2373 S. Archer Ave., Chicago. President Richard Lipman called the meeting to order at 6 PM with the following members present: Bill Burd, Paul Hybert, Mark Wieclaw, Steve Zitowsky, Elliott Krieter, Melissa Gumm, Dale Lukanich, and Carl Wolf. Not in attendance: John Riley and Marc Stackler.

The Minutes of the August 16th Board Meeting were approved as published.

The following points of business were discussed:

President Lipman asked for constructive suggestions on his leadership.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:08 PM.

Our 1187th Meeting

Date:December 13, 2017, Annual Banquet Meeting (reservations are required)
Time:6:30PM to 7:00PM Cocktails
7:00PM to 9PM Dinner and Meeting
Location:Grand Lux Café, at Ontario & Michigan Avenue (entrance around the corner at 111 E. Ontario St.).
Parking: Valet parking at 111 E. Ontario (cash); discounted garage parking at 10 E. Ontario as well as at ROW self parking at 50 E. Ontario.
Menu: • We will start with a Caesar Salad, and continue with a choice between three appetizers (planned): Beef and Chorizo Empanadas, Bruschetta, or Double Stuffed potato Spring Rolls. A choice between three entrees is planned: Miso glazed Salmon with rice and stir fried veggies; Parmesan crusted Pork Chop with mashed potatoes and green beans and carrots; Pasta Milanese (Chicken breast coated with garlic and parmesan bread crumbs) served over spaghettini tossed with tomatoes and lemon butter sauce, garnished with Asparagus and Parmesan. Freshly baked bread, freshly brewed coffee, Iced & hot Tea, Signature fresh lemonades, and fountain sodas are included.
• The cost is $50.00 per person and reservations are required. You can mail your reservation and check to our PO Box – or you can email your reservation to carlwolfco@msn.com or call him at 773-771-1311, and plan to pay at the door.
• Please make reservations as early as you can so we can plan for an appropriate room size.
Program: Stanley Campbell on Collecting Cuba: A Travelogue for Numismatists
Mr. Stanley Campbell has been to Cuba seven times in the last twenty years, and each time found the country changed, charming, and challenging. He will talk about the latest ways Americans can enter (and leave) Cuba, the challenges of finding collectibles, including coins, stamps, banknotes, books and almost anything else. Join Mr. Campbell as he enlightens and entertains us about his latest escapades in the embargoed island.
