The 1055th meeting of the Chicago Coin Club was called to order at 7 PM with 13 members present. The October minutes were approved as published in the Chatter. Treasurer Steve Zitowsky was unable to attend, but forwarded the October Treasurer’s Report to the Secretary. The report showed October revenue of $400, expenses of $191.77 and total assets are $10,536.32. A motion was made and passed to approve the report.
It was announced that William Stafford Noble (Grundy) applied for life membership and his application was approved by the Life Membership Committee. A discussion followed concerning the segregation of life membership funds and the consensus of the members was that the Board should review this policy at a future meeting.
Robert Leonard reported process on the primitive money souvenir card for the 2007 CICF meeting. The plastic test tubes are on order and various affixing methods are being discussed. Lyle Daly reported that the current meeting room will be vacated by Chase Bank in May-June 2007 and the Club would have to look for a new home. Carl Wolf brought up the idea that with high-speed internet access and web cams, the Club could soon recruit speakers from different parts of the world to give live presentations before the Club. Many comments followed.
It was announced that an envelope was circulating for members to make reservations for the upcoming December banquet at a cost of $25.00 each. It was announced that several featured speakers were invited but unable to make the date. Several ideas were offered.
Carl Wolf reported the results of the Nomination Committee. The following members are nominated for 2007-2008: Robert Feiler, President; Jeffrey Rosinia, First Vice-President; Lyle Daly, Second Vice-President; William Burd, Archivist; Carl Wolf, Elliot Krieter, and Eugene Freeman, Directors; and Mark Wieclaw, Immediate Past-President.
Jeff Rosinia served as auctioneer for 47 lots of material. Most of the lots were Club related and came from the estate of William Pettit.
The meeting was adjourned at 9 PM.
Sincerely Submitted,
Carl Wolf, Secretary
These are the realized prices for the lots listed in the November Chatter; a few additional lots were consigned just before the auction.

Silent Auction: |
The silent auction has been held for the past three years at the Holiday banquet. All proceeds benefit the club. Each year we try to provide items that will be of interest and value to spouses as well as members. This year we have a late start, BUT with generous participation from members we are assured success. We already have a few items for the auction. Ideally we should have ten to fifteen items to fill out the table. Baskets of goodies are always a hot item. We have 2 lovely gift baskets of tea cups and teapots with assorted teas to chase the winter cold. There is a Givenchy necktie designed for the Federal Reserve that is just calling out to the discriminating numismatist. I am convinced there are many wonderful and not necessarily numismatic, surplus and/or gently used items that are ready for “re-gifting".“ With a little packaging and sprucing up these can make wonderful auction items. Be creative! The items can be funny, practical, luxurious, artistic, cerebral and on and on. Please help by contacting Lyle Daly at lyledaly@msn.com or call 708 601-4711 to arrange to donate your items. The Chicago Coin Club thanks you. |
