President Mark Wieclaw called the 1024th meeting of the Chicago Coin Club to order on April 14, 2004 at 7:00PM. The meeting was held at the office of Harlan J. Berk.
The minutes for January, February, and March were approved.
There were no guests present.
First Vice-President Bob Feiler talked about upcoming programs.
First Vice-President Bob Feiler introduced the speaker for the evening Andy Plioplys. The topic was The Early Coinage of Lithuania 1100-1400 AD.
First Vice-President Bob Feiler thanked Mr. Plioplys for his lecture and presented him with the CCC speaker's medal and an ANA educational award.
There were seven participants in the evening's show and tell. They presented as follows:
Old Business:
Carl called the Cultural Center about a meeting room but they did not return his call.
Saul Needleman will check with Roosevelt University about a room.
Bob Leonard has completed the write up for the bamboo money. Bob Feiler showed the banquet give away - an encased postage stamp.
Speaker needed for The Mid-America Show. Bob Leonard suggested trying to get someone to discuss Hard Times Tokens or Civil War Tokens.
New Business:
Archivist Phil Carrigan was given copy #1 of the CPMX give away.
Decision made not to order more scales at this time.
General Discussion:
Mark Weiclaw showed a 20th anniversary encased stamp of
the Chicago Numismatic Roundtable.

First Vice-President Bob Feiler thanked Mr. Greenstein for his lecture and presented him with the CCC speaker's medal and an ANA educational award.

Old Business:
Lyle Daly has checked several sites. He has nothing firm as yet.
John Connolly said he would check with a camera club to which he belonged
to find out about renting a room from them.
The 85th anniversary banquet had 58 attendees.
Bamboo money from CICF is available for $5. Encased postage from the anniversary banquet is available for $5. Mark Wieclaw also has 85 cent good for tokens which he produced personally for the anniversary.
The club received a congratulatory certificate from the ANA presented by John Wilson at the banquet.

Mid America speaker is TBA
There is one CCC magnifier left. No more will be ordered for now. Scales are sold out.

Archivist Phil Carrigan received from President Mark Wieclaw
the ANA congratulatory certificate from the 85th anniversary.
Carl Wolf has found a room at the Chicago Bar Association for $90/ month. Mark Wieclaw is checking on a room in the building where we are currently meeting.
Carl Wolf announced that the speaker for the Mid-America Show will be Q. David Bowers. Carl also let us know that more scales were available.
Sharon Blocker is checking into locations for the annual banquet.
Bob Leonard asked for suggestions on how best to dispose of the remaining tally sticks from the CICF give away. Some are damaged and some were of a different type than those used for the project. Possibilities discussed were selling them at the club auction or selling them on eBay.
New Business:
There was an additional cost on our bill for the 85th anniversary banquet
for which Carl Wolf paid.
Motion passed to reimburse Carl for the expense.

General Discussion:
The topic of privacy was under discussion again.
Mark Wieclaw received a phone call from an unknown person trying to sell him coins.
The internet has made it easier to find out personal information about people.
Mark also related how he was contacted by a snuff bottle collector
who got his information from the local library where Mark
had a display of his collection of bottles.
